Reasons for the appointment

Over many years both in Japan and overseas, Mr. Nishiguchi has been involved in product development, namely, the core function of “Yoki-Monozukuri* and also in the marketing activities for communicating the essential value of such products to consumers. In recent years, he has led the Company’s Consumer Products Business, and is familiar with the global competitive environment, changes of consumers and business partners, the expectations from stakeholders surrounding the Kao Group, and the strengths and tasks for the Kao Group. He also has global experience such as in management of the Company’s important overseas subsidiaries in China and other Asian countries. In addition, as the Responsible for Consumer Products, Global, he decisively and swiftly promotes the establishment of “Global Sharp Top” businesses. The Company has determined that he will be able to contribute to enhancing the corporate value of the Kao Group by using his experience and expertise in the planning and deliberation of management strategies, etc. at the Board of Directors and in the supervision of execution.
