Developing products made with sustainable raw materials for consumers worldwide
Global population growth and accompanying urbanization will inevitably lead to a higher demand for detergents. Foreseeing this need, Kao sought an effective way to use raw materials that were once discarded. With knowledge acquired over many years of essential research, we have succeeded in developing Bio IOS. This new and sustainable surfactant is made using the leftover material from extracting edible palm oil from the fruit of the oil palm.
In addition to being environmentally friendly, Bio IOS is unique for demonstrating powerful cleaning action while leaving little detergent residue after rinsing. In spring 2019, we launched the liquid laundry detergent, Attack ZERO, on the Japanese market. It is the first Kao product to use Bio IOS.
