Image Analysis Equipment for Skin Capillaries

Kao continues to develop analytical methods and measuring technologies to evaluate the function of blood circulation in peripheral arteries. Recently, through a research project pursued jointly with an outside research institute, we succeeded in developing equipment that can generate visual images of the skin capillary network and perform analyses. Using a green LED as a light source that is incident into the skin, we can convert the reflected light from the source into an image that allows us to analyze the status of skin capillaries. We will use this equipment in tracking changes in hemodynamics associated with aging, as well as in evaluating the effectiveness of various types of constituents.
