Carbonate Care
External factors such as lifestyle, habits, and psychological stress can accelerate skin aging.
This means protecting the skin from these stressors and maintaining beautiful skin requires an approach that targets not only the skin but the entire body (physiological functions). Especially important is blood circulation, which carries nutrients and oxygen to the skin cells.
The capillaries present in a thin layer of the skin can be observed non-invasively through the skin’s surface layer. Kao developed an analysis method utilizing image processing to efficiently analyze these capillaries. It involves using an algorithm based on independent component analysis and filter processing to easily extract the capillaries from microscope images of the skin. This technique enables quantitative analysis of physiological changes in epidermal capillaries.

In our search for ways to increase capillary blood flow, we focused on carbonate and evaluated its effects on the skin. Continuous application of carbonate preparations improved the amount of moisture in the skin as well as exfoliation and skin brightness. Recent research has shown that carbonate has effects not only on the blood flow, but also improves rough skin and controls inflammation by temporarily lowering the pH of the skin.
