Responses to Crisis

Management framework during crisis

In the event of a crisis, Kao establishes an Emergency Response Team Organization to the level of emergency and take swift and appropriate action to minimize physical damage and financial loss.

Based on the severity of the impact on Kao from the incident, the head of the crisis response team evaluates the emergency level (evaluating incidents such as accidents, disasters, and infectious disease outbreaks on a scale from Level 1 to Level 3) and establish an organizational framework to the level to address the incident.

This shows Kao’s management framework according to the level of emergency in the event of a crisis. The emergency level is indicated in three stages, from situations that can be handled by relevant division and locals, to situations that can be assumed a company-wide impact. And organization such as local response headquarters, regional response headquarters, crisis response team, and emergency countermeasure headquarters will be established in stages.

Respond to unforeseen crises

In the event that a new risk or a risk with unclear jurisdiction emerges, the Risk Management & Responsible Care department leads the initial response. In cooperation with related departments and subsidiaries, the department grasps the situation and examine response policies. If necessary, a countermeasure organization, including managements, will be established to address the issue.
In order to ensure that such integrated collaboration functions quickly, we work to strengthen our collaborative system by communicating closely with each division and subsidiary in Japan, as well as subsidiaries in Asia, Europe, and the US, even during normal times. We are also collaborating with external stakeholders.
