Kao (Taiwan) is working to help realize a resource-circulating society. As part of the company's efforts in this area, Kao Taiwan has been aiming to reduce plastic waste, and since 2016, has rolled out products that are made using 100% recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Currently, bottles made from 100% recycled plastic are being used for 17 products from Feather Shampoo, Essential, Bioré Prime Body and Men's Bioré brands. The amount of recycled plastic used in 2021 is estimated to be over 100 tons, 10% increase against 2020, and representing a reduction in CO2 emissions of around 200 tons.

In addition, to help reduce the negative impact of CO2 emissions and climate change, Kao Taiwan and its suppliers are participating in a plastic recycling platform promoted by Taiwan's Environmental Protection Administration (EPA). Kao Taiwan has set itself the target of using at least 25% recycled plastic by 2025. This is expected to achieve an annual reduction in CO2 emissions of at least 1,000 tons by 2025.

Kao Taiwan will continue to implement the Kao Group's ESG strategy, the Kirei Lifestyle Plan, not only by demonstrating concern for the environment over the entire product lifecycle, but also by making effective use of solar power, developing a sustainable supply chain, and reducing plastic waste by using only the minimum amount of product labeling required by law.
