Medical Soin Esthetic (MSE)

Skincare and Makeup Support in Medical Settings

Kao provides skin care and makeup treatments (soin esthetic*1 ) in a medical setting under the guidance of a physician as part of a reconstructive rehabilitation*2 program for individuals whose appearance has been affected by congenital conditions such as bruises, cleft lips, and hairy nevi, as well as burns or scars from accidents. This initiative is called “Medical Soin Esthetic,” and it supports patients’ QOL improvement through treatments and home care advice. Kanebo Cosmetics led these efforts for nearly half a century since 1966, and Kao has continued them since 2020.

Currently, specialists (including estheticians) periodically perform skin care and makeup using cosmetics, manual techniques, and cosmetic devices for outpatients at the Department of Plastic & Aesthetic Surgery in Kitasato University Hospital. We also advise patients on home skin care and makeup.
We are committed to helping patients lead their daily lives after treatment with a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction.

  • * 1 Soin esthetic: A French term that includes the meanings of both “soin” (care, mindfulness) and “esthétique.” It encompasses not only the practical and functional aspects of esthetic treatments but also emphasizes the mental and psychological effects through counseling, skin care, and makeup treatments.
  • * 2 Reconstructive rehabilitation: A technique aimed at improving the condition and appearance of skin after plastic surgery. This involves alleviating symptoms such as hyperkeratosis, pigmentation, and contracture by sun protection, compression (immobilization), dryness prevention, and makeup, among other methods.
