Kao honored for supporting work and family balance

Kao Germany has been honored by the audit "berufundfamilie" (job and family) for its strategically designed family and life phase conscious company policy. For the first time in the 22-year history of the audit, the certificates were given out as part of an online event, where Michael Cramer, Chairman of the Board of Kao Germany GmbH, virtually accepted the award. Among the congratulators were Oliver Schmitz, Managing Director of berufundfamilie Service GmbH, John-Philip Hammersen, Managing Director of the non-profit Hertie Foundation, and the German Minister for Family Affairs, Dr. Franziska Giffey, who is the patron of the audit.

Michael Cramer on the award: "We are delighted to receive the certification for our family and life phase conscious corporate policy and culture for the second time in a row. The beauty business is a people business - they make the difference and the satisfaction and health of our employees is very important to us. Especially in the areas of health promotion, employee support and personnel development, we have been able to implement additional and important measures during the last years, which we would like to expand even further in the coming period. The corona crisis has shown how important a good work and family policy is and I am proud of how agile and flexible we have mastered the past weeks and months as a team".

Kao is one of the 47 employers that have successfully completed the audit "berufundfamilie" for the second time. Around 900 employees at Kao can benefit from the family-conscious measures. The range of services currently offered includes flexible annual working hours and part-time models, a home office policy, offers for health promotion, mentoring programs, company pension schemes including employer subsidies/long-term accounts, an employee assistance program, a contact program for employees on parental/nursing leave as well as emergency care and vacation offers for employees' children. Until the re-audit is conducted again in three years, Kao is planning to introduce further measures, such as comprehensive information on the topic of caring for relatives, further development of the topic of "mobile and agile working" and training courses in the area of "healthy leadership".

The certificate event was dedicated to a total of 334 employers - 134 companies, 164 institutions and 36 universities - who had successfully passed the audit "berufundfamilie" in the previous twelve months. The management tool offered by berufundfamilie Service GmbH ensures that a family and life phase conscious personnel policy is sustainably controlled and implemented. A total of 28 companies and institutions and two universities were honored in the state of Hesse.
