Our presence in France in the FMCG industry started with the launch of the John Frieda premium hair care brand in 1999. After being acquired by Kao the John Frieda brand continued to grow and we expanded distribution across various channels, focusing on hypermarkets and supermarkets.

In 2017, we introduced the skin care brand Bioré as the expert in pore care and later expanded the brand into the sun protection territory with Japan’s famous Bioré UV Aqua Rich line. 
 
In 2025 Curél, the leading dermo-cosmetic brand in Japan, made its debut in France, paving the way for an expansion of Kao France in pharmacy channel. Our focus at Kao France is on products within the Kao Consumer Division.
