Alongside the salon business, Darmstadt is also the hub for Kao’s DACH Consumer Care Business, with well-known brands like John Frieda, Guhl, Bioré, Curél and Bondi Sands, as well as the Global Marketing leadership for John Frieda.

In the Europe Research Laboratories, Kao’s Hair Care Centre of Excellence, 150 researchers develop global innovations for our iconic hair care brands.

Just a short walk from the main office campus is Kao Manufacturing Germany GmbH, one of Kao’s two production sites in the EMEA region.

This highly specialized facility serves as the global production hub for the salon business and the main production site for many of our Consumer Care brands. Each year, it produces nearly 5,000 different product types and more than 90 million individual products.

Darmstadt is also home to many of our regional teams and functions members, such as the Salon and Consumer Care Export teams, the EMEA HCD team, Corporate Communications, Legal as well as Supply Chain.
