Reducing Our Plastic Footprint

Molton Brown is dedicated to reducing single-use plastic and virgin materials, which is why its plastic bottles are made with 50% recycled PET – this reduces the use of virgin plastic by the equivalent weight of approximately 4.8 million Molton Brown 300ml bottles per year. This is a significant amount more than the EU target to reach 25% recycled plastic bottle content by 2025.

Molton Brown recently launched a refillable programme, which includes Hand Wash Refill Pouches and glass bottles. In selected stores, there is a Fragrance Refill Service available, so consumers can keep using their beautiful perfume bottle even after the last spritz. With its ‘Return. Recycle. Reward.’programme, consumers can let their plastic Molton Brown bottles get fully recycled and receive 10% off their next purchase.
All returned bottles will be transformed into plastic resin, which can then be used for moulding new bottles, crafting shoes or building roads.

Also in its hotel offerings, Molton Brown consistently aims to reduce the use of plastics. Its new Signature Dispenser houses 350ml formulas of its Bath, Body, Hand and Hair Care collections. Installing this dispenser would prevent more than 18,250 bottles and 137kg of plastic being sent to landfill every year (based on Molton Brown data of 30ml bottles used annually in a typical100-room luxury hotel). It has a removable metal plate to change the product collection name, and a fill level indicator on the front, for house  keeping staff to clean and replenish with ease. To ensure the best standards of hygiene, the dispenser has a tamper-proof system and can’t be opened or removed by hotel guests.

Made In England Since 1971

Molton Brown’s founders were committed to making their products in England, sourcing only the finest natural ingredients and rejecting typical chemical formulas of the 70's. Today, we’re celebrating 50 years of being made in England. Our Elsenham facility is net climate neutral** since 2021, while offsetting our carbon footprint. There we have also used 100% renewable electricity since 2016 and recycled nearly 98% of our waste in 2020.

Cruelty Free Since 1971

We’ve never tested on animals since 1971 and we never will, plus we’ve been Leaping Bunny-approved since 2012. Our formulas are 100% vegetarian and 97% of our products are vegan* – we will be a 100% vegan* manufacturer in 2022.

* No ingredient of animal origin.
