Based on the global ESG strategy, Kao has identified actions for its Americas region operations that it commits to realize by 2025.
By 2025, all Kao owned and managed locations will support renewable energy.
By 2025, we target zero waste to landfill at all Kao owned and managed locations.
Reducing CO2 emissions is at the heart of our environmental efforts – and we challenge the way we do things every day to reach our global goal of zero CO2 emissions by 2040 and to become carbon negative by 2050.
Switching to renewable energy usage, installing solar panels and improving recyclability – everyone at Kao is working every day towards our zero emissions goal. In the meantime, we work to offset what we cannot eliminate yet. That’s why, in the Americas region, we are supporting renewable electricity for 100% of the products manufactured by us and on our behalf in all of North America.
By 2025, we will strive for 50% of all plastic based packaging to be made with recycled or bio-based materials.
By 2025, we will strive for our packaging to be designed to be recyclable or reusable by 2025.
By 2025, we will eliminate all unnecessary secondary packaging and source any necessary secondary packaging from 100% consumer recycled paper.
As part of the company’s ESG strategy and zero waste mission, Kao has joined the Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC) in order to support and implement the growing How2Recycle (H2R) program. How2Recycle is a standardized labeling system that clearly communicates recycling instructions to the public. It involves a coalition of forward-thinking brands who want their packaging to be recycled and are empowering consumers through smart packaging labels.
We have corporate citizenship efforts in the Americas region to empower individuals to live a Kirei life.
We facilitate and encourage civic engagement by providing employees the opportunity for paid time to volunteer and participate in civic
duties, activities, or community programs.
