Building on the success of its pioneering online plastics bottle recycling and upcycling program launched in 2023, Kao Hong Kong is proud to announce the expansion and enhancement of its sustainable initiative for the year 2024: Continue the close collaboration with PARKnSHOP eCommerce to introduce the "Return. Recreate 2.0" plastics bottle recycling and upcycling program, allowing consumers to contribute to a more sustainable lifestyle by recycling their plastic bottles through online purchases.
This year, the program has been elevated with the addition of new elements aimed at promoting environmental awareness and engaging the local community.
In addition to collecting plastic bottles, the program now includes the collection of plastic refill bags, further encouraging responsible consumption and reducing plastic waste in Hong Kong.
In an effort to enhance public recognition of the Return. Recreate campaign 2.0, we've organized a promotional mobile truck to tour six residential districts in Hong Kong. The truck will also serve to advertise Kao's flagship store on PNS.hk through O+O communication, while highlighting the ESG elements of Kao products. This endeavour aims to elevate consciousness and encourage Hong Kong citizens to engage more actively in recycling and upcycling activities.
Management teams from Kao Hong Kong together with PARKnSHOP team visited to the promotional truck to show their support for the ESG initiative.
Ms. Freda Ng, Managing Director of PARKnSHOP, fully supports the initiative and shared her own environmental practices, "We are proud to be the pioneer in the market to run online plastic bottle recycling and upcycling program with Kao since 2023. The partnership has been instrumental in promoting sustainable habits within the community. To further engage our customers to go green together, we have extended to collect plastic refill bags to further reduce plastic waste." She also mentioned, "In my daily life, I engage my children in reuse and recycling, making this campaign important for cultivating environmental awareness and recycling habits among young people."
Kao has organized a plastics upcycling family workshop, providing an engaging and educational experience for PARKnSHOP MoneyBack members and staff to learn about the upcycling process.
Through this hands-on workshop, participants will gain insights into the transformation of plastic bottles and refill bags, further reinforcing the impact of their participation in the recycling program.
Mr. Kevin Wong, the Trading Director at PARKnSHOP, took part in the workshop where he tried out a plastic shredding machine. He expressed his satisfaction by saying, "This workshop is genuinely significant. It offers children the chance to understand plastic upcycling, an experience they rarely encounter in their everyday life. I extend my gratitude to Kao Hong Kong for organizing such a great event for PARKnSHOP members and staff."
"We are thrilled to expand and enhance our plastics recycling and upcycling program for the year 2024," said Mr Miyashita Kazuya, President of Kao Hong Kong Limited. "With the inclusion of plastic refill bags, community outreach through our advertising mobile truck, and the introduction of an interactive workshop, we are taking our dedication to environmental responsibility to the next level. These initiatives represent our collaborative efforts with our business partner PARKnSHOP to advocate for sustainable living, aiming to maximize the campaign's impact on community about waste management and consumption."
