Kao Malaysia presented a RM10,000 donation to the Malaysian AEON Foundation in support of the Smart Classroom Project during a ceremony held at AEON Headquarters, AEON Taman Maluri Shopping Centre.
Kuala Lumpur, 16 July 2025 – In a joint effort to promote sustainable living and strengthen ESG-driven partnerships, Kao Malaysia and AEON CO. (M) BHD successfully concluded the "Recycle & Get Rewarded" HDPE Collection Program, held under Smart Family Campaign with the theme of Together Always, Embracing Each Milestone.
This initiative, which ran from August 2024 to May 2025, is a testament to both companies' shared commitment to contributing positively to society through environmental action. HDPE (No. 2 High-Density Polyethylene) is one of the most recycled plastics in the country. As part of Kao's Kirei Lifestyle Plan, the campaign encouraged Malaysians to recycle HDPE plastic packaging regardless of brand origin.
Throughout the 10-month campaign, more than 680KG of HDPE plastics were collected across five (5) AEON Mall locations, namely AEON Mall Taman Maluri, AEON Mall Metro Prima, AEON Alpha Angle, AEON Mall Permas Jaya, and AEON Mall Bandaraya Melaka. The recycling effort was designed to be simple and rewarding. For every five (5) HDPE bottles collected, shoppers were entitled to receive Trash4Cash buy-back rewards along with a Kao free gift – an initiative aimed at making recycling both fun and hassle-free.
This campaign also supported the community in more ways than one. As part of the closing of this initiative, Kao Malaysia donated RM10,000 to the Malaysian AEON Foundation in support of the Smart Classroom Project, which aims to provide better learning infrastructure and support for local students.

Mr. Yamazaki Hirobumi, President of Kao Malaysia, shared "We are proud to collaborate with AEON Malaysia on this meaningful initiative, which supports Kao's vision under the Kirei Lifestyle Plan (KLP). This campaign also reinforces our commitment to ESG through purposeful action. The donation to the Smart Classroom Project is a clear reflection of that commitment – benefitting the community in the areas of education, social well-being, and sustainability. Through our participating brands – Attack, Magiclean, Merries, and Bioré GUARD – we hope to continue inspiring Malaysians to embrace a cleaner, more sustainable way of living."
Mr. Naoya Okada, Managing Director at AEON CO. (M) BHD., added: "This collaboration between Kao Malaysia, AEON, and the Malaysian AEON Foundation further strengthens our long-standing partnership, built on shared values and aligned ESG goals. Beyond offering consumers and shoppers quality products, we are jointly creating opportunities to raise conscious awareness of environmental issues and the importance of sustainable habits. We believe that by working together, we can make a greater difference for the environment and our communities."
The collaboration between Kao Malaysia and AEON reflects the spirit of Kao's core value: "We act with courage." By embracing innovation and social responsibility, both companies continue to empower Malaysians in creating a more sustainable and fulfilling future for all.
