Kao-SCGP form cooperative pact on innovations
to address social and environmental issues with sustainability

Kao Industrial (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a leading manufacturer of consumer and chemical products, and SCG Packaging PLC., to be a leading multinational consumer packaging solutions provider, have recently signed a memorandum of cooperation to introduce innovations and sustainability to consumers with an aim to reduce pollution and create a livable and sustainable world for future generations.

Mr. Yuji Shimizu, President of Kao Industrial (Thailand) Co., Ltd. said, "Kao and SCGP have the same goal in terms of our commitment to contributing to a more sustainable society and planet. The current signing of the MOU, therefore, marks another milestone of success in building significant synergies between our two companies with a common goal of developing and providing eco-friendly products and creating sustainable solutions for consumers. It is about how we make people's everyday life more beautiful, how we help make thoughtful choices for society with our non-polluting products and how we make the world healthier and cleaner."

Kao is aiming to reduce CO₂ emissions to Zero by 2040 and achieve ZERO Plastic Packaging Wastes by 2040. In other words, the amount of plastic used must equal the amount of reused or recycled plastic.

Mr. Wichan Jitpukdee, Chief Executive Officer, SCG Packaging Public Company Limited, SCGP, says SCGP is delighted to cooperate with Kao since both companies share the same goal to create social and environmental sustainability as well as to create benefits for consumers. This cooperation will bring about an alliance leading to product innovations and technologies in the form of packaging solutions that will benefit the environment. This means greater amounts of packaging will be recycled in the manufacturing processes. These products will contribute to an improvement of people's quality of life and living standards and bring about the sustainability for all sectors.

This cooperative effort is in line with SCGP's policy to take its social responsibility seriously by developing products and services that are safe. It is a part of the company's quality management to ensure safety in packaging use through operational controls and monitoring in accordance with international standards. Furthermore, SCGP is committed to the Circular Economy principles to reduce industrial waste, increase the rate of used-paper reuse in production processes, and increase the rate of recycling plastic packaging. The Company also sets a target for Net Zero in 2050.
