Kao is aiming to achieve Zero Plastic Packaging Wastes by 2040. In other words, the amount of plastic used must equal the amount of reused or recycled plastic and to reduce CO2 emissions to Zero by 2040. Currently, Kao Thailand's manufacturing has achieved our zero waste to landfill goals as all waste is almost 100% recyclable since 2020. To play a pivotal role in accelerating Thailand's efforts to reduce the amount of plastic waste, Kao, therefore, set a goal that all plastic packaging being sold will be 100% recyclable by 2025.
Kao Thailand and Kanebo Cosmetics (Thailand) Co., Ltd., teamed up with PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, or GC a leading global chemical company donated 1,000 PPE suits made from 19,415 used polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle which collected from Kao Thailand's six drop-off points under the "PET to PPE" project, worth 498,000 baht. All of PPE suits were donated to the Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute; Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University; and Faculty of Medicine, Vajira Hospital, Navamindradhiraj University to keep frontline healthcare workers safe and to cope with COVID-19 outbreak.
Kao Thailand, in support sustainability project of Areeya Property Public Company Limited, persuading Areeya residents to revert recyclable wastes to generate profit. By downloading "Recycle Time" application to receive free "Attack 3D Clean Action Liquid" - the concentrated liquid detergent, one of Kao's Green products which reduce energy consumption in production compared to washing powder. The biodegradable product helps save energy and water while washing without emitting toxicity into the environment.
Due to the sanitary napkins manufacturing process, scrap of sanitary napkins will be considered as waste and normally it will be exterminated or disposed. As Kao's sustainability business concept and commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility, Kao concerns about how to manage waste and scrap materials from manufacturing process. Thus, Kao has developed premium product for a circular economy by using PIR (Post-Industrial Recycled) or the scrap form sanitary napkins from manufacturing process to recycle to plastic resin and convert to Kao's premium product for support Kao's sale promotion.
Kao Thailand won Amata Best Waste Management Awards for the 5th consecutive year in Platinum level.
The award was given to the company which has efficient management of industrial waste and solid waste, initiated by Amata Facility Services Company together with Amata City Industrial Estate Chonburi and Rayong, with an aim to enhance factories which located in industrial estate to have waste management system that complies with the laws and enhance its efficiency in waste and solid waste management according to the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) and Zero Waste to Landfill.

Bioré GUARD Mos Block Serum's packaging is made from 28% Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) or estimated 2 grams from the total weight of plastic 7 grams. This can helps reduce the use of virgin plastic and natural resource consumption and also plastic waste.
Kao Thailand won CSR-DIW Continuous Award 2022 from the Department of Industrial Works, the Ministry of Industry, this is the second year that company has been participating in the CSR-DIW project in order to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Kao organized the activity "Waste collection & Segregation", one of activities under "Collaboration Project to reduce the spread of Dengue fever" which aims to enhance waste segregation and to eliminate mosquito larvae in community behind Wat Don Damrong Tham, Don Hua Lor Sub-district, Chonburi province, by educating on recyclable waste segregation and supporting bins for the segregation and also organized waste to wealth activity.
Kao Thailand received "The Prime Minister's Industry Award 2022", prestigious awards of Thai's Industry which organized by the Ministry of Industry. This aim to recognize companies with continuous excellent performances, reflecting its strong commitment on providing high-quality products and also emphasize on sustainable energy consumption.
Kao Thailand has replaced its lightings from Mercury Lamp and Fluorescent tube to LED lights to reduce the energy consumption and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which could reduce CO2 emissions by 630 tons per year.
Kao Thailand has changed air conditioners within Kao Factory's office to inverter air conditioners which is way more energy-efficient and could reduce CO2 emission by 739 tons per year.
Normally, condensate water from stream production which use to supply each plant is considered as a huge waste, therefor Kao has been studied and initiated the project by reusing the condensate water in stream production, as the tempurature of condensate water from stream is higher than the regular water that used to fill in boiler tank. Conclusion, this project aims to reduce water resource and fuel usage in stream production.
Kao Thailand installed solar panels to convert the solar energy into electricity for manufacturing process and officially generated electricity from 2018 onwards. This project could reduce CO2 emission by 445 tons per year. Most importantly, information about solar power generation and total saving were shown to employee to raise their awareness on energy efficiency usage.
Kao annually conducts the Kao International Painting Contest for Children since 2010 to express their thoughts, hopes and considerations of the environmental conservation, the earth and future. With the hope that these will inspire people across the globe to lead and take action to changing sustainable lifestyles for a better world.
Kao Thailand organized the art workshop event "Let's Paint the Future" free of charge by collaborating with TK Park, to jointly enhance learning and their never-ending imagination and to promote cultivate sustainable environmental stewardship among children. The workshop opened to children aged 6-10 with total 30 children joined. "Let's Paint the Future" workshop emphasizes to support Kao International Environment Painting Contest for Children with an aim to inspire and empower children to preserve and pay attention to the environment as well as raise awareness about sustainability, align with our slogan "Kirei—Making Life Beautiful".
