Jakarta, June 9, 2025 – Kao Indonesia held Anak KAO (Creative, Active, Optimistic) Healthy School education activities as an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) commitment in a series of celebrations of Kao’s 40 years of presence in Indonesia. This activity was held at the Al-Kenaniyah Islamic Education Foundation (YPI) and was attended by Yoshihiro Hasebe as Representative Director, President and CEO of Kao Corporation, Toru Nishiguchi as Representative Director, Senior Managing Executive Officer of Kao Corporation, Shoichi Hasegawa as President Director of Kao Indonesia, KH. Hambali Ilyas as Chairman of Al Kenaniyah Islamic Education Foundation, H. Ahmad Fathir as Chairman of Al Kenaniyah Islamic Education Foundation, Dr. Elvieda Sariwati, M.Epid as Directorate General of Public Health, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, and Mr. Munjirin, S.Social, M.Si. as the Mayor of East Jakarta.
Kao Indonesia is committed to bringing Kirei to people’s daily lives, where every individual can live a cleaner, healthier life, and with peace of mind in a sustainable environment. Anak KAO activities are also carried out as part of Kao Indonesia’s ESG commitment which is realized through education, especially for school-age children as agents of change.
Shoichi Hasegawa, President Director of Kao Indonesia said, “During its 40-year journey, Kao Indonesia has always strived to improve the quality of life of the Indonesian society through meaningful innovations and various initiatives, including education. Anak KAO education program is certainly in line with and part of Kao Indonesia’s ESG strategy, Kirei Lifestyle Innovation. We believe that sustainability is not only about the environment, but also about participation aimed at the community. Therefore, this PHBS education is an important part of our 40-year journey, as well as a tangible manifestation of Kao Indonesia’s social contribution.”
Anak KAO has become one of Kao Indonesia’s social contributions that is carried out in a sustainable manner with the support of Indonesian Ministry of Health and the Indonesian Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen). Anak KAO Healthy School education is a Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) education program that has been running since 2016 and has reached more than 238 schools and 42,600 students in 5 provinces.
Through Anak KAO Healthy School education, participants are equipped with an understanding of the importance of maintaining personal and environmental hygiene, proper hand washing, and waste management which are packaged in the 5 pillars of Healthy Schools (Healthy Nutrition, Healthy Physical, Healthy Immunization, Healthy Mental, and Healthy Environment). Anak KAO Healthy School is also part of the acculturation of Healthy Living Community Movement (GERMAS) of the Ministry of Health with the target focus of school-age children. In its implementation, Anak KAO Education is carried out with a fun approach, modules tailored to the interests of primary and secondary school children, and delivered by interactive medical personnel.

In celebration of Kao Indonesia’s 40th anniversary, Anak KAO Sekolah Sehat activity was carried out at YPI Al-Kenaniyah as a tangible manifestation of Kao Indonesia’s initiative in multi-sectoral synergistic collaboration together with the Indonesian Ministry of Health, media partners and Pesantren Al-Kenaniyah. Not only that, seeing the importance of the role of Islamic boarding schools in shaping healthier future leaders is also the basis of this collaboration.
H. Ahmad Fathir Hambali, Lc. as Chairman of the Al Kenaniyah Islamic Education Foundation said, “We appreciate the collaboration between Kao Indonesia and YPI Al Kenaniyah. Of course, this collaboration is in line with the values we have at Al Kenaniyah, where we also strongly support and always invite students and santri to make PHBS an important part of daily life. It is hoped that this program will be very beneficial for students and students at Al Kenaniyah.”
As an added value to this Anak KAO Education – Healthy School activity, Kao Indonesia also provides Waste Points at several points in YPI Al Kenaniyah in the spirit of Anak KAO BISA (Waste Wise). Kao Indonesia acts as a facilitator for children to start the wise practice of sorting waste through simple things in everyday life, namely by collecting used Kao product packaging to be recycled by waste management partners into valuable objects and not end up in landfills.
“This activity is expected to empower children in Al Kenaniyah with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to be able to implement personal and environmental hygiene that contributes to the health of the Community.” concluded Shoichi Hasegawa.
