Jakarta, May 28, 2025 – Kao Indonesia, a consumer goods company that has been present in Indonesia for 40 years, inaugurated an independent solar power system (PLTS) installation project at one of its production facilities in the Karawang International Industrial Center (KIIC) area. The project has a total capacity of 6.53 Mega Watt peak, making it one of the largest solar power plants in Kao Group and KIIC Indonesia. The inauguration ceremony was held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 and was attended by Ms. Andriah Feby Misna as Director of Various Renewable Energy, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia, Mr. Shoichi Hasegawa as President Director of Kao Indonesia, Mr. Mahadhir as Manager of PLN UP3 Karawang, Mr. Irwansyah as Estate Management Group Division Head, Karawang International Industrial City (KIIC), and Mr. Soiciro Nishimori as President Director of PT Alam Energy Renewable.
The launch of the solar power plant is in line with Kao Indonesia’s long-term ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) commitment strategy under the Decarbonization pillar to bring renewable energy sources to the business chain. Through renewable energy sources Kao Indonesia develops innovative technologies with the aim of achieving Kao Group’s zero carbon target by 2040. The solar power plant is implemented in two phases of installation that have been completed, namely 1.53 Mega Watt peak in the first phase and 5 Mega Watt peak in the second phase and will contribute to reducing total CO2 emissions by 7,791 tons per year.

Kao Indonesia’s commitment in bringing renewable energy is contained in a long-term road map with a target of zero emission by 2040 through various innovations from upstream to downstream, among others through Renewable Energy, Biomethane and Energy Saving which are implemented in a sustainable manner. With the installation of an independent solar power plant at the production facility, Kao Indonesia supports the Indonesian government’s policy to achieve the Net Zero Emission target by 2060 with cross-sectoral synergistic collaboration.
