Jakarta, April 10, 2025 – The synergistic collaboration between Kao Indonesia, the Kao Life-in-Harmony Foundation (Kao LIHF), and Gama Inovasi Berdikari (GIB) demonstrates their commitment to improving the quality of life for communities through the RAIN Program (Rahmat Allah untuk Indonesia – God’s Blessings for Indonesia). This program focuses on providing access to clean water and education on Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) to the people of Girimulyo Village, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, on April 10, 2025.

This initiative continues the effort of providing access to clean water, previously realized through the installation of GAMA-RainFilter (GRF) rainwater harvesting technology at seven key communal points in the Girimulyo area. The program has already had a real impact on 30 families and one community and is now further strengthened by PHBS education involving residents and community leaders.

The PHBS education session was attended by Drs. Sunu Raharjo, Head of Girimulyo Village; Arly Diana Putri, Corporate Communications Manager at PT Kao Indonesia; Stephanie Herlambang, Project Leader at Kao Life-in-Harmony Foundation; Ridha Nurul Azizah, M.M., Director of PT Gama Inovasi Berdikari; Village Leaders of Girimulyo; and Dr. Novi Andriasari, Head of Panggang 2 Community Health Center (Puskesmas).

Clean water is an essential element in sustaining life on earth, not only for daily needs but also to support the implementation of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS). Understanding the urgency of clean water access for all levels of society, Kao Indonesia, Kao Life-in-Harmony Foundation (LIHF), and Gama Inovasi Berdikari (GIB) are working together to map the existing issues and provide innovative solutions. This collaboration is realized through the provision of clean water access via GAMA-RainFilter rainwater harvesting technology, further enhanced by community empowerment education to raise awareness of the importance of PHBS in daily life.

Drs. Sunu Raharjo, Head of Girimulyo Village, said, “We appreciate the collaboration of all parties involved in today’s activity. Information on the importance of PHBS is highly needed to educate the people of Girimulyo. We hope that PHBS can be practiced by children, parents, and the entire community in their daily lives.”

Wisik Restu, Associate Vice President of Legal, Compliance, Industrial Relations, and Corporate Communications at PT Kao Indonesia, stated, “Kao Indonesia is proud to support and appreciate this collaboration as part of our mission to create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable life for the Indonesian people. This collaboration also aligns with the company’s ESG commitment and strategy, namely the Kirei Lifestyle Innovation. The PHBS education program with clean water is a tangible manifestation of our commitment, which we hope can raise awareness about Clean and Healthy Living Behavior in Girimulyo Village, Gunungkidul.”

Yumi Takeuchi, President of the Kao Life-in-Harmony Foundation, said, “Previously, through the Program RAIN in collaboration with GIB, Kao LIHF provided rainwater harvesting facilities (GAMA-RainFilter) to the people of Girimulyo as a gateway to open access to clean water. With this PHBS education initiative in collaboration with Kao Indonesia, we aim to encourage community empowerment in managing water resources independently and increase understanding of clean water usage to maintain hygiene and sanitation in daily life. With this support, we hope to improve the health and quality of life of the community.”

Ridha Nurul Azizah, M.M., Director of PT Gama Inovasi Berdikari, stated, “PT Gama Inovasi Berdikari (GIB) believes that access to clean water is not just a basic need but a crucial foundation for driving behavioral change toward a healthier life. The GAMA-RainFilter technology presents a practical and appropriate solution capable of processing rainwater into clean, usable water for the community. Through today’s education, we hope to strengthen understanding and build collective awareness among communities about independently and sustainably managing clean water.”

This collaboration reflects Kao Indonesia’s social contribution in promoting the Kirei Lifestyle in society. It aligns with Kao Indonesia’s mission and spirit over the past 40 years of improving the quality of life of Indonesians through meaningful innovation.

“The collaboration we realized through today’s education activity is expected to serve as a real contribution to the community, especially in Girimulyo, Gunungkidul, in applying Clean and Healthy Living Behavior using clean water. Ultimately, this can support the creation of a Kirei Lifestyle and improve the health and quality of life of the people,” concluded Wisik Restu.

This collaboration reflects the active role of various parties in creating sustainable social impact and serves as a cross-sector collaboration model to address real challenges within communities. The Program RAIN in Girimulyo is expected to become an inspiring model that can be replicated in other areas facing similar challenges.
