PETALING JAYA, 15 JUNE 2025 – In conjunction with ASEAN Dengue Day 2025, the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) organized a large-scale community clean-up and awareness campaign at Apartment Idaman, Damansara Damai – one of Selangor's high-risk dengue localities. Themed "Guard & Activate United Against Dengue: Clean Homes, Safe Communities", the event brought together over 300 residents, community leaders, and supporting partners including Kao Malaysia and Guardian Malaysia to raise awareness and take preventive action against mosquito-borne illnesses.

The event began with a high-energy aerobic activity, promoting physical wellness as a vital component of community resilience. This was followed by a dengue awareness talk conducted by Dr. Mas Ahmad from the Petaling District Health Office (PKD), who provided insights on the dangers of dengue, symptoms, and effective prevention methods. Puan Anis from Kao Malaysia conducted a product demonstration, educating attendees on the proper use of Bioré GUARD Mos Block Serum and Bioré UV, which help protect the skin from mosquito bites and UV rays. Kao Malaysia also donated Mos Block Serum to the community as part of its ongoing commitment to promoting hygiene, health, and safety under its Kirei Lifestyle Plan.

Children were also engaged in a Colouring Activity under the theme "Protect Yourself from Pesky Aedes Mosquitoes with Bioré GUARD Mos Block Serum", which allowed them to express creativity while learning about mosquito protection.

The highlight of the day was the Gotong-Royong Clean-Up, where volunteers worked together to eliminate stagnant water, clear clogged drains, and remove potential mosquito breeding sites. This effort was further amplified by an interactive Treasure Hunt, where teams raced to identify and "eliminate" hidden breeding spots – blending education with fun.

A waste audit was also conducted after the clean-up to analyse waste composition and reward efforts in responsible waste management. Winners of the Highest Waste Collection and the Most Creative Colouring Contest were awarded prizes in recognition of their active participation and environmental awareness.

The day concluded in the official opening of ASEAN Dengue Day by Mohamad Zahri Samingon, Mayor of Petaling Jaya, followed by a photo session and product donation handover. Participants also had the chance to visit Health & Information Booths, enjoy free health screenings, and learn more about dengue prevention and healthy living through engaging exhibits set up by public and private sector organisations.

The ASEAN Dengue Day 2025 event, led by MBPJ, demonstrated the power of community mobilization supported by public-private collaboration. With support from Kao Malaysia and Guardian, the initiative successfully fostered awareness, education, and proactive dengue prevention among residents of Apartment Idaman.
