KUALA LUMPUR, 13 June 2024 – Kao Malaysia has announced the launch of its innovative Bioré GUARD Mos Block Serum, featuring a unique anti-landing technology designed to prevent mosquitoes from landing on the skin. This initiative, part of Kao's global GUARD OUR FUTURE project, aims to protect communities from mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue fever.
In conjunction with the launch, Kao Malaysia has partnered with the Selangor State Government and Takeda Malaysia to implement a series of activities aimed at combating the rise of dengue in Malaysia. This collaboration aligns with World Dengue Day, observed on 15 June, highlighting the urgent need to address mosquito-borne diseases.
Mr. Nishida Masahide, President of Skin Care Business Kao Corporation, emphasized the importance of integrating Kao's ESG strategy, the Kirei Lifestyle Plan, into their business practices to create a sustainable society. He noted, "Our efforts toward our Mid-term Plan 2027 (K27) are aimed at protecting future lives by leveraging innovative technology and strategic partnerships."

Mr. Nishimaki Akira, President of Kao Malaysia, reiterated the company's commitment to addressing social issues through innovative solutions. "Dengue fever is a major issue in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Through GUARD OUR FUTURE, we aim to contain and eradicate the dengue menace in our communities."

In Malaysia, dengue cases surged to 123,133 in 2023, an 86.3% increase from the previous year. Kao Malaysia's GUARD OUR FUTURE initiative will distribute over 61,080 units of the Bioré GUARD Mos Block Serum, matching the number of active dengue cases in Selangor in 2023. These donations, worth RM971,172, will be distributed through various programs until June 2025.
YB Puan Jamaliah Binti Jamaluddin, EXCO Public Health and Environment Selangor State Government, expressed the government's commitment to public health education and prevention. "We will implement educational workshops and community activities, distributing Bioré GUARD Mos Block Serum to participants, emphasizing preventive measures against dengue."

The project will also include awareness talks, community clean-up sessions, and partnerships with schools to educate the public on dengue prevention.
