Mouth care and virus. Expert brushing guidance.

The importance of oral care by dental hygienists.

image

Needless to say, vaccines and hand washing are important to reduce the effects of viruses.

On the other hand, the results of research on reducing susceptibility to viruses and oral care are attracting attention.

"Receive oral care by a dental hygienist"

There are reports that the incidence of certain viral diseases in those who receive oral care by a dental hygienist is one-tenth that of tooth brushing by the person and the caregiver alone.(1)

"Decrease the number of bacteria in the mouth" It is thought that the decrease in this incidence was due to a decrease in the number of bacteria in the mouth. Inadequate oral care is said to be due to the fact that proteins in the respiratory tract mucosa, which originally prevent the virus from attaching and multiplying, are destroyed by bacterial proteases lurking in the mouth. (2)

Kao is also engaged in various R & D activities to maintain a good overall mouth environment. We recommend oral care by a specialist in a dental clinic at the same time as regular oral care.

It is known that viruses enter the body from small water droplets (splashes) generated from the mouth when coughing or sneezing.

It is said that the number of droplets discharged by sneezing is about 2,000,000 at a time, and about 100,000 per cough(1) The virus contained in these droplets invades the body.

If you have a cough or sneeze, in case you have to go out in the crowd, and do not let your family members go home, do everything you can.

"Cough etiquette" is the use of masks, tissue handkerchiefs, and sleeves to hold down the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.(2)

In addition, use a mask as much as possible so that the splash does not spread out.(3-5)
