Kao Industrial (Thailand) Co., Ltd. is continuing its "Collaboration Project to Reduce the Spread of Dengue Fever" by unveiling a new partner, CP ALL Public Company Limited, the sole operator 7-Eleven convenience stores and 7-Delivery. This partnership will improve awareness of dengue fever by connecting the RooTan application enabling health-related risks alerts, with the 7-Eleven TH application, with an aim of supporting Thais and the healthcare system by monitoring outbreaks of dengue fever.

This project was initiated by Kao Thailand in collaboration with four major organizations, Amata Corporation Public Company Limited, the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) - National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), and the Division of Vector-Borne Diseases, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health. Their shared goal was to build a better understanding among Thais on how to eliminate mosquito larvae, which is the main carrier of dengue hemorrhagic fever. Launched on June 15, 2021, the project's pilot areas covered Nong Mai Daeng Sub-district, Don Hua Lor Sub-district, and Amata City Industrial Estate in Chonburi.

This year, the project is adopting a strategic online-to-offline (O2O) approach by linking the RooTan application enabling health-related risks alerts, with the 7-Eleven TH app, which has over 30 million active users, increasing responsiveness about dengue fever by reaching a much larger number of people. The project coincides with offline campaign activities against dengue fever and giveaways of mosquito repellant at the offices of partners throughout Bangkok, including the TARA building, Science Park Building, the Ministry of Health's Department of Disease Control etc. In addition, a communications campaign in
7-Eleven stores nationwide involving Bioré GUARD Mos Block Serum* CSR activities to further increase awareness against dengue fever.

Mr. Yuji Shimizu, President of Kao Industrial (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, "As one of the partners that initiated the Collaboration Project to Reduce the Spread of Dengue Fever, Kao has teamed up with the public and private sectors, and communities to conduct onsite visits to promote health awareness and a better understanding on how to stay protected from dengue fever by getting rid of Aedes Aegypti breeding grounds. We also provide Bioré GUARD Mos Block Serum* , a mosquito repellent, which is convenient to use every day. This year, we expanded our collaboration with a leading partner, CP ALL, by integrating the RooTan app which is supported by Kao Corporation, with the 7-Eleven TH application. Moreover, there will be CSR activities with Bioré GUARD Mos Block Serum* in high-risk areas to further amplify our responsible position in recognizing the importance of safety, hygiene, and sanitation."

Mr. Prasith Chakarttham, Assistant Vice President of CP All Plc., said, "The Company is committed to acknowledging the community and society's concerns in a sustainable manner. Meanwhile, there is currently another critical epidemic, which is 'dengue fever,' which comes during the rainy season every year and is considered the biggest health threat to Thais. Our involvement in raising awareness is a proactive strategy that will create a shield for people in society. Currently, the 7-Eleven TH app has over 30 million active users, making it the perfect channel to link with the RooTan app to provide people with a better understanding about health-related risks and threats. This gives users access to updated health information which includes risk and predictive factors for dengue infections and other practical information on COVID-19, PM 2.5, or the heat index. The extensive userbase of the 7-Eleven TH app will help spread knowledge and understanding to users' families and friends, and across wider society."

Dr. Chantana Padungtod, M.D. of the Division of Vector Borne Diseases, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health, said, "Originally, it was the public health agency's duty to reduce dengue transmissions before collaborations were formed among the public sector, local administrations, and the public. In the next normal era, this effort now includes the private sector to increase efficiency in managing this important issue, resulting in a satisfying and more socially responsible approach."

Dr. Chai Wutiwiwatchai, Ph.D., Executive Director of NECTEC, said, "Today, we can better tackle health risks in our daily routines using credible and reliable information. NECTEC-NSTDA and the Department of Disease Control have thus developed the RooTan app to alert people about health-related dangers and threats at the current and preferable locations and in a near real-time manner. In addition, the RooTan app provides crucial guidance for self-preparation and spatial risks nationwide. With its potential to disseminate Dengue risks, Japan's Kao Corporation has not hesitated to support its usage to Thais. Collaborating with CP ALL will make the RooTan app known and become far more extensive in supporting good health for all Thais. The app currently alerts on the risk of dengue fever transmission, PM 2.5 particulate matter which affects the respiratory system, the heat index which elevates the risk of heat stroke, and COVID-19 risk."
