What is skin's structure?

Our skin has three layers: epidermis, dermis and hypodermis.
Skin is uneven, and in different parts of our body, its thickness varies from 0.6mm to 3mm. The average thickness of skin is about 2mm. The epidermis accounts only for 0.2mm of skin thickness, and it can be further divided into four sub-layers. The stratum corneum, skin’s outer layer, accounts for only 0.02mm of skin; it plays an important role in protecting skin against external irritation.
