Entries Now Open for the Tenth Kao International Environment Painting Contest for Children

The Tenth Kao International Painting Contest for Children is now open for entries, as at April 08, 2019, according to Kao.

Kao conducts the Kao International Painting Contest every year since its launch in 2010 as part of its environmental initiatives. The theme for this year is "Together, we are eco-friendly". Kao invites children to create works that express the small steps they can take every day, their dreams, and hopes for an eco-friendly world.

This contest aims to encourage children around the world to think seriously about conservation of the environment around them and of the earth, as well as about the earth's future, and express their thoughts in paintings, which will also hopefully encourage people around the world to take action in their daily life to preserve the environment. Last year, 12,563 entries were received from 44 countries and areas, including Japan. Cumulative entries received since 2010 now total 82,872 paintings.

Prize winners will be announced on the Kao website in November and the awards ceremony will be held in Tokyo in early December. Winners of the "eco together"- Planet Earth Grand Prix and the "eco together"- Kao Prize will be invited to attend the awards ceremony.

Since announcing the Kao Environmental Statement in 2009, the Kao has been active in environmental conservation aligned with the theme of "eco together", partnering with consumers, business partners, and communities. Kao will continue to strive to contribute to building a sustainable society through proactive engagement of our stakeholders to build trust and closer relationships.
