Entries Now Open for the Ninth Kao International Environment Painting Contest for Children

The Ninth Kao International Painting Contest for Children is now open for entries effective April 11, 2018, according to Kao Group.

Kao Group conducts the Kao International Painting Contest every year since its launch in 2010 as part of its environmental initiatives. The theme for this year is “Together, we are eco-friendly”. Kao invites children to create works that express the small steps they can take every day, their dreams, and hopes for an eco-friendly world.

This contest aims to encourage children around the world to think seriously about conservation of the environment around them and of the earth, as well as about the earth’s future, and express their thoughts in paintings, which will also hopefully encourage people around the world to take action in their daily life to preserve the environment. Last year, 11,048 entries were received from 41 countries and regions, including Japan. Cumulative entries received since 2010 now total 70,309 paintings.

Prize winners will be announced on the Kao website in November and Prize-winning works will be on display at the Kao booth in the EcoPro 2018 exhibition to be held in Tokyo in December. Winners of the “eco together”- Planet Earth Grand Prix and　the “eco together”- Kao Prize will also be invited to attend the awards ceremony held at the venue.

Since announcing the Kao Environmental Statement in 2009, the Kao Group has been active in environmental conservation aligned with the theme of “eco together”, partnering with consumers, business partners, and communities. Kao Group will continue to strive to contribute to building a sustainable society through proactive engagement of our stakeholders to build trust and closer relationships.

Outline of the Ninth Kao International Environment Painting Contest for Children

Theme: “Together, we are eco-friendly”
Please think about what we can do to protect our precious global environment and pass it on to future generations, and express your thoughts in your entry.

Eligibility:
Children around the world between the ages of 6 and 15 years old.

Please send painting to:

Entry deadline:
Paintings must be received by midnight Friday, August 24, 2018.

Results announcement and the awards ceremony
By late November 2018, the winners and their schools will be notified of the results. The results will also be posted on the Kao website. On Saturday December 8, 2018, at Tokyo Big Sight, the prizes will be awarded in a ceremony at the EcoPro 2018 exhibition.

  • * The winners of the “eco together”- Planet Earth Grand Prix and the “eco together”- Kao Prize (including winners from abroad) and one accompanying guardian will be invited to attend the awards ceremony.
  • * The winning works will be announced and exhibited at the Kao Booth at the EcoPro 2018 exhibition.
  • * The place of the awards ceremony and the works display may be changed.
