Bali, June 21 2022 – Kao Indonesia together with Indonesia Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy / Institution of Creative Economy Tourism (Kemenparekraf / Baparekraf) collaborated in the Pentahelix Partnership as an effort to create a Clean, Healthy, Safe, and Environmental Sustainability Tourism Village. As a step to accelerate the recovery in tourism and creative economy sectors through programs that are right on target and in line with Kao Indonesia's ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) strategy, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, witnessed the signing of a Joint Statement between Masahide Nishida as President Director PT Kao Indonesia with Henky Hotma Parlindungan Manurung as Deputy for Industry and Investment of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy which was held to coincide with the 2022 Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) Conference.

Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy said "We believe that Tourism Villages will become a pandemic winner from the tourism sector in line with changes in the trend of tourist market segmentation preferences after the Covid-19 pandemic which is more oriented towards tourist attractions that are more personalized, customized, localize, and smaller in size, and we see an increment in visitation to Tourism Villages during 2021. We really appreciate Kao Indonesia's efforts through this Synergistic Collaboration by supporting the development of Tourism Villages in terms of health and environmental hygiene which of course is in accordance with the situation and the needs needed by Tourism Villages so that the tourism sector can revive and grow."

The Tourism Village development program is supported from various aspects, one of which is local accommodation or homestays, where temporary residences play an important role in providing a good and pleasant experience for tourists. The factor of cleanliness and comfort is a priority that must be provided by homestay owners who are dominated by local residents. Therefore, in order to support and improve the standards of cleanliness and comfort of homestays in Tourism Villages, Kao Indonesia provides 10,000 packages of Kao Indonesia products as supporting facilities (amenities) for homestays in Tourism Villages so as to increase the interest of tourists to stay at homestays and develop the potential of Tourism Villages as the main tourist destinations in the country.

Jeniagusliono S. S, Vice President Director of PT Kao Indonesia said "We are very proud to be able to support the Kemenparekraf / Baparekraf program which is in line with the ESG Strategy and our company's vision to be able to contribute in improving the society quality of life and a sustainable environment. Through this collaboration, Kao Indonesia seeks to provide a real action to the Indonesia society, through the good quality beauty, hygiene and health products, by supporting the promotion of Tourism Villages, especially in terms of providing Kao products as homestay amenities which are expected to be a support for cleanliness to meet the needs and comfort of tourists who stay at the Tourism Village homestay. The implementation of this collaboration will take place throughout 2022 to 2023."

Since the pandemic hit and is still ongoing today, hygiene and health factors have become a major concern in the society in all aspects, and of course this also affects the choice of tourist destinations and places to stay. The participation of all parties is needed, not only the homestay owner but the community in the Tourism Village must take a role in helping develop economic potential through fundamental things, such as helping to maintain cleanliness and environmental sustainability in the Tourism Village.

Henky Hotma Parlindungan Manurung, Deputy for Industry and Investment Kemenparekraf / Baparekraf said "We really appreciate the efforts of PT Kao Indonesia in collaboration with Kemenparekraf / Baparekraf, to be able to jointly contribute and participate in creating a Clean, Healthy, Safe, and Environmental Sustainability. This collaboration can certainly help to improve the cleanliness factor in every homestay in the Tourism Village by providing Kao Indonesia products as supporting facilities and hopefully it can become a new standard, so that homestays become cleaner and more comfortable, the demand increases, tourist villages develop and of course will be followed by increasing economic income potency for local residents who own homestays and the wider community in the Tourism Village."

On the same occasion, Kao Indonesia also directly visited one of the Undisan Tourism Villages, Bangli Regency, Bali as well as symbolically handed over Kao Indonesia product package to the Village Head which could be used as homestay amenities. This visitation was also used as a forum for direct discussions and preparation of educational program planning for health and environmental sustainability promotion which was intended as a complement to increase the understanding of homestay owners and the community in Tourism Villages about the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness and sustainability as the basis for developing Tourism Villages in the economic aspect.

"I am very happy because what Kao Indonesia and Kemenparekraf / Baparekraf are doing is not only providing support in the provision of facilities, but also sharing information through education on the importance of cleanliness and environmental health in developing our Tourism Village, if the homestay is clean and comfortable, the environment will also be clean, healthy community, of course there will be more and more people visiting, the economy will also get better," explained Kadek Darmayasa Karang as the Head of the Undisan Tourism Village Homestay Owner, Bali.

The Pentahelix partnership between Kemenparekraf / Baparekraf as the Government, Kao Indonesia as the Private Sector, Communities, and Society carried out through the development of homestays in Tourism Villages is a real manifestation of efforts to support the growth of the tourism sector so that it can revive after a difficult period in these two-year pandemic situation, which in this case focuses on the cleanliness factor which can be agreed to be the basic thing in attracting tourists.

"The existence of a clean and comfortable homestay is needed to support the potential for developing a Tourism Village that is able to provide an economic impact for the community. However, the support and participation of the society in maintaining the health and cleanliness of the village environment is no less important. Therefore, we hope that the current Synergic Collaboration can have a real and sustainable impact, especially in the Priority Tourism Villages which are the targets of this activity," concluded Jeniagusliono S.S.

Kao Indonesia's ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) strategy is implemented locally under the umbrella theme of Caring Innovation. Where these values are the basis for all innovations and activities carried out by Kao Indonesia in through products and services that are always based on care to improving the society quality of life by focusing on education, promotion of health and a more sustainable lifestyle.
