On this occasion, with Merries as one of the company's leading brands, Kao Indonesia carried on the initiative to take action on environmental care in a strategic collaboration with the West Jakarta City Government Administration's Mayoral Wife and Posyandu cadres, with a campaign named "Merries Senyumkan Lingkungan - workshop & handover of pots as a result of diaper processing".

Initiated in 2019, Merries has been educating and invited the public to properly dispose of used baby diapers, through television, digital media, and direct educational workshops to housewives and mothers in West Jakarta region. The importance of understanding and raising the awareness of the potential environmental pollution is the reason of Merries initiative as the only baby diaper in Indonesia that is clinically tested by the Association of Indonesian Skin and Gender Specialists, to carry out the "Merries Senyumkan Lingkungan" social program.

In 2019, Merries kicked off the initiative by collecting used baby diapers to be processed into fiber and oil. While in early 2020, Merries showed how fiber that had been produced with hydrothermal technology could then be reprocessed into potted plants which would have given an added value for posyandu (Integrated Healthcare Center) to maintain green environment around Posyandu. These recycled potted plants would be gifted back to lists of participating posyandu that had joined hand-in-hand to help promote Merries Senyumkan Lingkungan.

In her remarks, Inad Luciawaty, West Jakarta City Government Administration's Mayoral Wife and Active Chief of West Jakarta Administration's Women's Community, highlighted the importance of this initiative, "Together we see a concrete manifestation of the commitment made by Merries and posyandu cadres in supporting this environmental preservative movement. I hope that we will always be encouraged to become more active in maintaining the environment's holistic balance by critically thinking and actively responding to protect the environment for the sake of the environment's sustainability around us".

Susilowati, VP of Marketing, Kao Indonesia, emphasized, "Merries are grateful for the enthusiasm and participation of housewives and mothers whom have collaborated to push this Merries Senyumkan Lingkungan initiative to successful fruition, by carrying out proper disposal and collecting used baby diapers. As a token of appreciation, Merries has changed the used baby diapers that had been collected into fiber which were finally processed into plant pots. The resulting pots are given back to participating posyandu to make their surrounding environment much greener. Thus, this social initiative becomes full circle in providing valuable benefits to the community and the environment."
