Kao's environment-friendly refill pack and holder with its Universal Design was honored the Minister of the Environment Award under the Innovation category at the UMIGOMI Zero Award 2019 on June 17, 2019. UMIGOMI Zero means zero marine litter in Japanese. A joint project between the Japan Foundation and the Ministry of the Environment, the UMIGOMI Zero Award aims to showcase the actions taken in Japan to tackle the increasingly serious issue of marine plastic litter by recognizing outstanding initiatives that help solve the problem.
With use of refills already a common place in the Japanese market, Kao was awarded for its excellence in developing and offering a further refined, easier-to-use Raku-raku Eco Pack Refill. The honor also extended to the Smart Holder, which features simple designs that fit naturally in bathrooms and washstands in the home and can be used by simply replacing the Raku-raku Eco Pack Refill without the hassle of refilling.
Committed to "Our Philosophy & Action on Plastic Packaging" released in October 2018, Kao will continue to collaborate with various stakeholders in our efforts to transform the world of packaging through our innovations.
