The new factory of PT Apical Kao Chemicals, a joint venture company of Kao Corporation (President and CEO: Michitaka Sawada) and Apical Group Limited (CEO: Dato'Yeo How) that produces fatty acids in Sumatra, Indonesia, has been completed today. The initial investment is about 80 million US dollars (about 9 billion yen).
With the completion of the new factory, the Kao Group will increase its production capacity, produce competitive oleochemical products, and promote their stable supply, in order to expand the chemical business.
Masahiro Katayose, Executive Officer and President of the Chemical Business at Kao Corporation, said that, "With Kao Group and Apical Group bringing their knowledge and technology together and creating synergy as a venture business, we hope to strengthen our supply chain and provide sustainable, high-quality oleochemical products and their characteristic derivatives to a wide range of customers."
