Kao has been recognized as a Supplier Engagement leader for its initiatives in reducing carbon emissions and tackling climate change across its supply chain by CDP, an international non-profit that drives companies and governments to reduce their greenhouse emissions.
CDP rated over 3,300 companies worldwide, and assessed their supply chain engagement strategy, including carbon emission and risk reduction strategies across their supply chain. The evaluation was started last year, and CDP named 58 companies on its second annual Supplier Engagement leaders board this year. Kao is one of 10 Japanese enterprises listed on the board.
Kao released the Kao Environmental Statement in 2009 and announced 35% carbon emission reduction across product lifecycle compared to that of 2005, as one of its 2020 medium-term plan goals. Together with suppliers, Kao will continue to deepen its understanding of climate change and risks and opportunities regarding water and forests to reduce carbon emissions across the product lifecycle, and engage in activities with a focus on the environment and society.
