Today, Kao Corporation's Taiwan subsidiary, Kao (Taiwan) Corporation, completed the construction of a new production building for manufacturing beauty care products in its Hsinchu Plant (Hsinchu County, Taiwan). Initial investment was approx. 3.3 billion JPY.
In recent years, Kao has been reinforcing its production capacity in Japan and abroad, building new plants and adding more production lines.
The newly completed production building was constructed to reinforce the supply capacity of Kao's rapidly growing Taiwanese beauty care business. Combined with existing facilities, the Hsinchu Plant's production capacity of beauty care products is now twice higher than before.
The Hsinchu Plant of Kao (Taiwan) Corporation became the first Taiwanese beauty care product manufacturing facility to obtain GMP* certification in March 2009. In order to produce higher performance, higher quality products, Kao (Taiwan) Corporation installed the new production building with more sophisticated equipment and clean rooms to establish top-level manufacturing environment standards in the Taiwanese beauty care business.
The new production building will start with manufacturing skin care brand products, Bioré and Men's Bioré, and hair care brand products, Essential, Liese. More products will be added as the business grows going forward.
In the Kao Group Mid-term Plan 2020 (K20), which kicked off in 2017, one of the growth strategies up to 2020 is to "expand the Consumer Products Business in Asia and increase its profit margin." The newly completed production facility is an important move toward the attainment of K20 goals and further development of the company's global business in the future.
