Kao Response to Ukraine Emergency

Kao is making a donation of €500,000 through UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, with plans to donate
baby diapers, personal hygiene and sanitary products for use both in Ukraine and by refugees who have been displaced outside Ukraine.

We at the Kao Group are shocked by the crisis in Ukraine and deeply saddened for the people of Ukraine
and the millions of people forced to flee their homes.

Joining the global call for support in this humanitarian crisis Kao Corporation made a donation of €500,000
to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, for humanitarian assistance to those affected in Ukraine and neighbouring countries.

We also plan to donate Kao products such as disposable baby diapers, personal hygiene and sanitary products through Japanese industrial associations and other organisations to help people in Ukraine and in evacuation centers in any way we can.

Kao Group companies in Americas and EMEA regions have also decided to make company donations to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and additionally match employees’ donations to help provide humanitarian aid. We are currently also reaching out to our local communities across Europe to see how we can best support them in their efforts to receive refugees from Ukraine.

Kao Corporation will suspend export sales to Russia and advertising activities in Russia. As these are also
unprecedented times for the people in Russia, we will continue to sell products that can maintain a minimum hygienic life for children and women only. We will continue the export of baby diapers and female hygiene
products to support these most vulnerable groups of society.

All Kao Group employees extend our deepest sympathies to the people of Ukraine. We believe in a diverse, inclusive and peaceful society where people stand together in trust and respect, and we hope with all our hearts that the violence will end soon. We will continue to closely monitor and assess the situation.
