Kao to Launch Healthya® Sparkling, Healthy Carbonated Drink to Promote Body Fat Utilization

Kao Corporation (President and CEO: Motoki Ozaki) on May 21, 2009 will launch Healthya® Sparkling, the first carbonated drink that helps manage body fat from the Healthya series, a lineup for promoting body fat utilization.

Launch Background and Objectives

Concerns over prevention of lifestyle-related disease and visceral fat are further growing in tandem with introduction of the Specific Diagnostics and Specific Health Advisory System in April 2008.

Through the Healthya brand, Healthya Green Tea was introduced in 2003 and Healthya Water in 2006 as beverages with positive effect on body fat, and have received strong support from consumers.

Healthya Sparkling is the first carbonated drink approved as Food for Specified Health Use (FOSHU) due to its effect on body fat. It is a healthy carbonated drink for adults that deals with body fat while delivering a refreshing flavor.
