Fatty Chemical (Malaysia) Wins Hibiscus Award for the Second Consecutive Time

In January 2012, Fatty Chemical (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (FCM), which manufactures fatty alcohol, glycerin and other oleochemical products, was presented with the Prime Minister's Hibiscus Award, Malaysia's national environmental prize.

Targeting Expansion of Environmental Contributions in Malaysia

The Hibiscus Award is presented every two years to businesses reflecting excellent environmental stewardship. Eligibility extends to companies from any industrial or other sector operating within Malaysia. FCM was awarded for the second consecutive time. The award grants the winners permission to use an artistic rendering of the hibiscus, Malaysia's national flower, as a logo in its corporate activities.

FCM received the award on behalf of the four Kao companies based in Penang State: Kao Soap (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (KSM), Kao Oleochemical (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (KOM) and Kao Plasticizer (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (KPM), in addition to FCM. The prize recognized the corporate infrastructures supporting the companies' sustainable environmental improvements, as well as ongoing corporate activities demonstrating actual environmental contributions to Malaysia.
