Through "Yoki-Monozukuri," Kao has continued to pursue its mission of bringing more comfortable living to consumers, while continuing efforts to make more environmentally-friendly products in more environmentally-friendly ways.
We have also committed ourselves to advancing our environmental efforts even further, adopting in June 2009 the Kao Environmental Statement and a new corporate message of "enriching lives, in harmony with nature." The purpose of this is to further enhance our environmental activities with the understanding and cooperation of all our stakeholders. In doing so, Kao has pledged to continue working hard to help protect the global environment and gain understanding for our environmental activities.

In order to thoroughly develop products that are safe and cause little environmental burden, Kao conducts activities with a product's entire life cycle in mind based on the principles of product development and design for environment (DfE) guidelines from the design stages.

Measures Concerning Production, Distribution and Sales Activities
Concerning the reduction of energy use and industrial waste, Kao conducts thorough activities with a focus on specific goals. Kao also designs production facilities based on standards that are tougher than environmental standards set by law.

Kao International Environment Painting Contest for Children
Kao established the Kao International Environment Painting Contest for Children in 2010, based on the "eco together" theme. Our hopes are to encourage the children who will inherit the future to give serious thought to the environment around them, and turn those thoughts into real actions.
