Kao Group businesses range from Beauty Care to Chemical Products with worldwide operations that include Asia, North America and Europe. Kao also boasts a rich diversity of markets and employees enabling many Kao Group synergies, the very foundations of which are bolstered by our corporate philosophy, the cornerstone of the Kao Group mindset, The Kao Way.

The Kao Group's distinctive matrix management system drives Group synergies between our business units and functional divisions. Our matrix management system achieves these synergies by integrating our business units, such as the Beauty Care Business, offering prestige cosmetics, and skin and hair care products, with our functional divisions which include R&D, Production, and Sales. Once unique knowledge and know-how is obtained through joint work between the Beauty Care Business and the functional divisions, such knowledge can be shared with other Kao Group business units to further enhance operations of the entire Kao organization.

For example, the knowledge about skin physiology acquired through years of human skincare research has been successfully transferred to the Health Care Business and applied to such products as Laurier F sanitary napkins conceived by a new concept focusing on skin care.
